Recent KCAC grads share similar experiences

Fessenden enjoying retirement, Hanover threatening NV win streak

Coach Chuck Fessenden’s 1985 Almena-Northern Valley football team featured multiple sophomores in key roles. The Huskies returned senior running back Shane Baird, who tallied 1,573 rushing yards as a junior. Northern Valley lost in state title games in ’82-’83 and posted a 10-2 record in ’84.

White teams win both KBCA All-Star Games

SALINA - Caleb Grill was quick to answer Saturday night when asked which of his plays in the KBCA All-Star Game gave him the most satisfaction. Was it the 360-degree spinning one-handed dunk in the first half or the four-point play from 22 feet in the second?

KBCA All-Star Games are this weekend in Salina

The 36th-annual Kansas Basketball Coaches Association All-Star Game features some of the best talent across the Sunflower State.  Both games will be held on Saturday, June 22 at Mabee Arena on the campus of Kansas Wesleyan University. The girls game is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.

Chapman hires Gruver to lead girls basketball team

Chapman High School went 35 miles north to find its next girls head basketball coach.  Drew Gruver will be the next head coach of the Chapman girls basketball team, according to athletic director Clint Merritt.

Oliver wins basketball all-star game MVP

Wabaunsee High School's Abby Oliver continued her amazing senior athletics season by winning the Flint Hills Optimist Club All-Star Game MVP after her Red Team defeated the Blue Team 66-62 Saturday night in Emporia.

Whether they were truly upsets or just a case of schedule disparity leading to seeding discrepancies more lower seeds took down higher seeds on day two of state tournament play. 6A Girls  (1) Liberal (22-0) vs. (8) Olathe Northwest (15-7) Update: Olathe Northwest won 57-46 (4) Topeka (20-2) vs.

Sub-state tournament play all wrapped up

From 6A all through 1A, sub-state basketball is all wrapped-up in the state of Kansas. 6A (Boys) The 6A field at Koch Arena is set on the boys side. Every top-seed made state, with the excpetion of a gaint upset on the West side.
