Kansas Pregame polled 6-Man coaches who voted for the top three seniors they coached against this season. Kansas Pregame staffers then used those votes to develop a Top 6 list of seniors in the classification. Check out a Top 6 capsule below, and find the complete list of Top 6 selections here. Weskan senior Trey Allen ended his high school football career in unforgettable fashion, helping lead the Coyotes to a 6-Man state championship with a thrilling 49-48 victory over previously unbeaten Cunningham. Allen’s contributions on both sides of the ball were pivotal as his team completed a perfect 13-0 season, marking their third 6-Man title under head coach Brett Clow and first official championship since the classification’s sanctioning by KSHSAA in 2022.

Clow praised Allen’s growth and leadership over his high school football career.

"I can't speak enough about Trey and his impact on this team," Clow said. "This has been a four-year growing process for Trey, not only as an athlete but as a person, a leader, and football player specifically. Fast forward to this year as a senior, he became the anchor of our team, the guy you completely trust with the ball or to be in the right spot on defense. He communicates so much on the field to help his teammates in their assignments."

Allen made many plays through the years that stood out to Clow, including a fumble recovery in their 47-40 Week 7 nail biting win against Northern Valley that put on display the senior’s grit at a pivotal point in the game.

"It felt like four or five people should have gotten to the ball before he did, but he somehow was able to come up with it," Clow said.

Allen’s impact was again on full display in the championship game, where he accounted for four touchdowns, scoring two on the ground and adding receiving touchdowns of 11 and 35 yards. He also converted three extra points, including the final kick after his 35-yard touchdown reception in the third quarter, which proved crucial in Weskan’s narrow victory. Allen finished the game with 64 rushing yards on 17 carries and 93 receiving yards on four catches.

"Trey is very quiet, but his consistency and work ethic were contagious to the rest of the team," Clow said. "He is obviously a tremendous athlete with his size and speed, but he is one of the smartest players we have ever coached. He has a great understanding of our schemes as a whole, not only for his position but the big picture."

Allen’s season totals included more than 900 receiving yards, 300 rushing yards, and 25 total touchdowns, including  three return scores. Defensively, he recorded 55 tackles, five interceptions, and two fumble recoveries. For his career, he finished with over 1,500 receiving yards, earning multiple accolades, including 2024 Sports in Kansas Defensive Player of the Year and first-team All-State honors as a wide receiver and linebacker.

Basketball is another significant focus for the Kansas Pregame Winter Edition 2024 cover athlete. Already a two-time all-state selection, Allen is averaging 31.1 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, and four steals so far this season and has helped position the 8-0 Coyotes among the top ranks of 8-Man Division 2.

While Allen has not finalized his post-graduation plans, he is considering a future in basketball if the right opportunity arises.

“Basketball has always been Trey's first love as a sport and we always understood that,” Clow said. “But I always really appreciated his willingness to play football. He always showed up, worked hard, never complained.”
