Key Items Approved by KSHSAA Executive Board

TOPEKA, Kan. - The Kansas State High School Activities Association Executive Board approved several items during the June meeting. Starting in 2024, State Football will be held at three locations with three games taking place at each site. State soccer and wrestling will also see changes coming in the near future. The board also finalized the SB 113 Policy for home school and non-public school student participation.

Stanton County's Peterson named Kansas Gatorade Player of the Year

CHICAGO (June 28, 2023) — In its 38th year of honoring the nation’s best high school athletes, Gatorade today announced Chesney Peterson of Stanton County High School is the 2022-23 GatoradeKansas Girls Track & Field Player of the Year. Peterson is the first Gatorade Kansas Girls Track & Field Player of the Year to be chosen from Stanton County High School.

Teams split 8-Man All-Star games

The two teams split the 8-Man All-Star games in Beloit, Saturday, with the East dominating the DII contest, 54-22, behind the dynamic play of quarterbacks Garrett Maltbie (Canton-Galva) and Isaac Detweiler (Axtell), while the West edged the East in the DI game, 28-22.

East wins 6-Man All-Star game

Update: The East beat the West in a low-scoring 12-6 contest – unusual for 6-Man – in the fourth annual 6-Man All-Star game Saturday, June 3rd, in Newton. While this was the fourth 6-Man All-Star Classic, it was the first after 6-Man football was fully sanctioned as a KSHSAA athletic competition for the fall of 2022. The East got a touchdown pass from Tescott's Blake Green to Cunningham's Lane Halderson and a TD run from Jefferson Glover of Peabody-Burns. West's Will Ast, of Ingalls, rushed for the only score for his squad.
