KFBCA Top 11: Cooper Marsh

Cooper Marsh, QB, 6-0, 175, Mill Valley, Sr.
Most high school football players finish off their careers without ever playing on a championship team. That doesn’t take away from their journey and football is still a positive experience for many of them, but they never get to know what it's like to play in the “big game.” For Mill Valley senior quarterback Cooper Marsh, big games are the norm, rather than the exception. He has played and won the biggest game possible for a 5A Kansas football player, twice!
Marsh was a second-year starter at quarterback for Mill Valley this past season, and despite having the high-pressure task of following up a junior campaign that saw him record 226.3 total offensive yards per game and 30 total touchdowns en route to his first state championship, he didn’t flinch and upped his numbers to 239.2 total yards per game accompanied by 29 total TDs, in four fewer games than his junior year.
To add to these numbers from his senior campaign, he also had a QB rating of 116.6 his final year, making him one of the most efficient quarterbacks in the state. That already impressive efficiency would be considerably higher had it not been for De Soto’s strong defensive preparation in their second matchup this season, which still saw Marsh and his Jaguars come out on top.
When he isn’t making pinpoint throws and using his mobility on the football field, Marsh is likely to be found on the diamond doing just the same. The senior outfielder is considering an offer to play baseball at Johnson County Community College but is still weighing all his options.
Jaguar head coach Joel Applebee, who has led Mill Valley to four state titles in the past six seasons, gives Marsh high marks both on and off the field.
“Cooper is not only a tremendous player, but he is a great young man,” Applebee said. “He was the true leader of our offense the past two years. Cooper is one of the most competitive athletes I have ever coached. He doesn’t care about stats or who gets credit, he wants to win!”
The KFBCA Top 11* and All-State selections consist of seniors from the Class of 2021 nominated and voted on by members of the Kansas Football Coaches Association. For more info about the KFBCA find them online at www.kfbca.com.
